Tamarind Rice or Pulihora Recipe
Andhra pulihora recipe is the Traditional Recipe. We all cook it for festivals, Marriages and many other occasions. This recipe is made with cooked rice seasoned with tamarind paste and some basic ingredients like chana dal, urad dal, musturd seeds, dried chillies, curry leaves and some ginger gives excellent taste.We offer this dish as naivedyam for god/goddess.

So here we go about the ingredients we need:
- 1 cup of Rice
- oil for seasoning
- Curry leaves
- Red chilles broken
- 1/2 tsp musturd seeds
- 1 tbsp chana dal
- 1 tbsp urad dal
- Green Chilles ( according to your requirement)
- Ground Nuts
- Tamarind Pulp( Adjust according to your taste)
- Jaggery - 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric
- Ginger ( Chopped into small pieces)
PROCEDURE:
- Firstly cook the rice in cooker and set it aside to cool down. dont make it mussy
- Now Take a pan , Add oil and allow it to heat.
- Fry the Ground Nuts and set it aside.
- Add Musturd seeds and allow it to splutter.
- Add Chana dal, Urad dal and Ginger and saute it for 1min
- Add Red chilles and green chilles, turmeric
- Now add tamarind pulp,jaggery and some salt.
- Let the mixture gets thicken otherwise the rice will be moist.
- Now add this mixture to the cooled rice which was set aside.
- You can adjust the salt according to your taste.
- Now finally, Add fried ground nuts and mix it well.
Tips:
- Adding hing will add excellent flavor to the recipe.
- you can add fried ground nuts while cooking the tamarind paste but this makes the nuts loose its crispy nature. so i recommend adding it at last.
